The judgement date for the attacker of Mango Markets by the US judge has been postponed to April 10.
PANews January 9th news, according to Cointelegraph, Avraham "Avi" Eisenberg, who was sentenced for fraud and market manipulation for exploiting the Decentralizationexchange Mango Markets vulnerability, will be sentenced on April 10th. In a document submitted to the United States Southern District of New York (SDNY) on January 8th, Judge Arun Subramanian granted Eisenberg's lawyer's request to postpone the sentencing hearing until April 10th. He was originally scheduled to be sentenced at the hearing on December 12th, and then postponed to February 11th after being convicted in April 2024. The legal team for the Mango Markets vulnerability exploit requested a postponement on January 7th, citing the "complexity of the factual record and some sentencing issues". The US Attorney's Office did not object to this change. In October 2022, Eisenberg hacked Mango Markets and stole over $100 million. Although he returned about $67 million, he still kept over $40 million after a community governance vote. In December of the same year, Eisenberg was arrested by US authorities and has been detained for nearly two years. If sentenced to the maximum term, he may face 20 years in prison. In addition, Eisenberg may also face civil enforcement actions by the US SEC and CFTC. These two cases were suspended in March 2023 and may resume after the criminal case ends.
