What should be in the "Bro Code" equivalent of the Crypto Bro Code?
(And before I get cancelled, let me be clear: article number one is that crypto bros, among all common nouns referring to a person or a group of people in crypto, should be gender-neutral.)
Here are some good ones I came up with over the weekend:
⛽ The sender/initiator of an on-chain transaction always bears the gas fee, unless otherwise agreed upon.
🌅 Whenever someone says “GM” in a chat, on a tweet, or in person directly addressing you, you always reply with “GM”.
🕰️ Never judge people by how early or how late they joined crypto.
🧬 If you fork someone's code or model, give credit. Open source doesn't mean free clout.
🧢 You're allowed to rebrand once a year, and update your PFP, header, and bio accordingly.
🎁 The number of people you forward a free airdrop to is inversely proportional to the number of steps required to claim it.
📣 A person's prepositions cannot be argued as more right or more wrong just because of how many followers they have on social media.
📸 If you're a recipient of exclusive merch, swag, or an airdrop, take a picture and thank the sender on social media on a best-effort basis. If you're not able to, at least thank the gifter privately.
📬 If you're a sender of exclusive merch, swag, or an airdrop and want social media engagement in return, say it upfront. Otherwise, it will be a courtesy, not an obligation.
🕵️ Always verify before you shill. If you're going to post about a project, at least read the whitepaper and do your own due diligence first – or admit that you didn't.
I have 40+ of these written down already. Thinking if I can get to 69, maybe they can actually be published in some meaningful way?
What would you add to the Crypto Bro Code? What's the unspoken rule of honor in crypto that you live by?
