Regulatory work on cryptocurrencies continues, while new statements come from Chairman of the Capital Markets Board Ibrahim Ömer Gönül.

According to CNN's report, Ömer Gönül, the president of the Capital Markets Board, said that efforts for secondary regulations regarding cryptocurrencies are ongoing at the 8th Capital Markets Congress.

İbrahim Ömer Gönül stated, "We are taking steps to implement secondary regulations regarding cryptocurrencies very soon."

After the publication of the secondary regulation, on-site inspection works will be carried out with the crypto asset service providers and the authorization process will be completed.

What Happened?

As it is known, the Law No. 518, known as the cryptocurrency law in the public opinion, which amends the Capital Markets Law, entered into force by being published in the Official Gazette on 02.07.2024.

Crypto currency service providers operating or intending to operate in Turkey within the scope of this law have been brought under the regulatory and supervisory authority of the Capital Markets Board (CMB).
