Trump Media and Technology Group (TMTG), a company largely owned by US President Donald Trump's family, has filed two applications for two (AI) artificial intelligence-related trademarks for the Truth Social platform.

According to the CEO and Chairman of TMTG, Devin Nunes, the two brands named "Truth Social AI" and "Truth Social AI Search" are designed to turn Truth Social into a source of "reliable information, non-woke news, and entertainment content."

TMTG's stock rose 5.5% in Wednesday's trading session, far exceeding the gains of the Nasdaq index – where the company is listed. However, in Q1 2025, Trump Media reported a net loss of $31.7 million, with revenue only reaching $8.8 million.

While other social media platforms have applied AI for real-time translation, customer support chatbots, and content personalization, there has yet to be an official response from TMTG regarding this new AI usage plan.

TMTG previously also filed a trademark application related to new technologies, including payment services and cryptocurrency transactions, along with integrated ETF funds on the platform. In February, DTTM Operations – another company owned by Donald Trump – also filed a trademark application for a virtual universe (metaverse) branded Trump.

The New "Tech Gimmicks" and Social Media

Truth Social is said to have around 6.3 million users as of January, although this number has fluctuated significantly over the past 12 months. Compared to major social media platforms like Facebook, which has 3.1 billion monthly active users in 2023, the user scale of Truth Social is still quite small.

On many social media platforms today, there have been "stunts" related to new technology and algorithms. For example, on platform X, Elon Musk announced that he would readjust Grok after users complained that this AI had become too "woke" – a term referring to an excessive focus on progressive social issues. As a result, the AI described itself as "MechaHitler."

Some politicians and users have also accused Facebook of deliberately censoring and restricting conservative views.
