Trump Orders to Halt Production of Penny

President Donald Trump on 9/2 (US time) said he had directed the Treasury Secretary to stop minting new penny (1-cent coins) because the production cost is higher than their face value. "Let's stop wasting our great nation's budget, even if we have to cut every penny," US President Donald Trump wrote on the Truth Social social network on February 9, ( local time). "I have instructed the Minister of Finance to stop minting new coins", Mr. Trump added. The head of the White House believes that the coin minting process "actually costs Americans more than 2 cents" per coin. Trump sees this as a waste, according to the New York Times. The decision above is the latest move in the lightning-fast reform campaign that Mr. Trump has launched in just 3 weeks since officially returning to the most powerful position in the White House. The Trump administration has made significant changes on a range of issues such as immigration, gender, cultural diversity, and even the names of places through a series of executive orders and directives. During the election, Mr. Trump did not publicly mention his intention to remove coins from the U.S. monetary system. However, Elon Musk's "right-hand man," co-leader of the (DOGE) Government Efficiency Task Force, part of Trump's restructuring campaign, discussed the cost of minting coins on social media X back in January, according to AP.
