Trump Supports Ripple and XRP: Ripple CLO Rejects Fake FUD Rumors about XRP
Stuart Alderoty, Chief Legal Officer (CLO) of Ripple, has publicly denied rumors of an unstable relationship between Ripple and former US President Donald Trump. These rumors originated from a report by Axios, shared by Degen News on X. The report alleges that Trump criticized an unnamed company in a tense exchange with the company's representative, accusing the representative of not supporting him at a critical moment and abandoning him to follow Kamala Harris. According to Degen News, anonymous sources have linked this interaction to Ripple, fueling speculation about the relationship between the company and Trump. Degen News shared this report, although Axios' report did not mention Ripple by name in its report, and neither the Trump transition team nor Ripple have confirmed this statement. Ripple CLO denies false statements Alderoty described these statements as "completely fictional" and "completely fabricated" in a response. Alderoty and Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse recently met with Donald Trump. Garlinghouse described the meeting as a strong start to 2025, undermining the credibility of these dissenting statements between Trump and Ripple. Alderoty, when addressing these allegations, emphasized the lack of credible evidence and condemned the sources behind the rumors. 'Oh, anonymous sources? Well, here's a named source: me,' he declared. As a person present at the meeting with Trump, he is the appropriate person to clarify the matter. He continued to call the story a fabrication of a "third-rate cryptocurrency newspaper" and questioned the motives of those perpetuating the story. This rumor was spread due to the political implications in Ripple's history. Ripple co-founder Chris Larsen had previously made significant contributions to Harris's campaign, raising questions about the company's political ties. However, there is no evidence to support the claim that Ripple's interactions with Trump were unfriendly. The importance of countering misinformation The increase of misinformation has impacted the global media for a period of time. Alderoty quickly countered this misinformation, especially with the ongoing legal battles with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). Despite the rumors quickly being debunked, it emphasizes the importance of verifying information. Alderoty's response has reassured the XRP community, many of whom see this rumor as an attempt to sow doubt about Ripple's leadership and direction. With the upcoming administration of Donald Trump taking control of the White House, many in the cryptocurrency world believe that the SEC will drop the lawsuit against Ripple and a good relationship with Ripple could help expedite this process.
