Former Terraform Labs CFO Han Chang-joon was extradited from Montenegro to South Korea on Feb. 5, according to a police statement on a Montenegrin government website. Han was identified only as J.C.H. in the statement, but an unnamed police spokesman confirmed his identity to Reuters.
Han was arrested along with former Terraform CEO Do Kwon at the airport in the Montenegrin capital, Podgorica, on March 23. They were trying to use forged Costa Rican passports to board a private jet bound for Dubai. According to the Montenegrin police statement
"J.C.H. was handed over today to the competent judicial and police authorities of South Korea by the officers of NCB Interpol Podgorica and the Special Police Unit, in order to carry out criminal proceedings for various fraud-related crimes."
Interestingly, the police statement said that Han faces life in prison in South Korea, which is harsher than the sentence that threatens Kwon, according to a South Korean newspaper. A report in KBS World indicated that Kwon could be sentenced to up to 40 years in prison.
