WalletConnect (WCT) recently announced its ambitious development plan for 2025, showcasing its aspirations in the Web3 space. Although WCT may not be mature enough at the moment, its future development blueprint is noteworthy.
According to the roadmap, WCT plans to achieve several important goals in the coming years. First, they will focus on the decentralization of nodes, aiming to attract more operators to join the network. Second, WCT will introduce on-chain governance mechanisms, allowing token holders to participate in major decisions through voting. In addition, to give back to early supporters, WCT also plans to conduct multiple rounds of airdrop events.
The ultimate vision of WCT is to become the infrastructure provider of the Web3 world, similar to Amazon Web Services (AWS) in the traditional internet. They hope that developers can conveniently call WCT's API just like using cloud computing services, while the underlying connection issues will be fully handled by WCT. Furthermore, WCT plans to incorporate AI technology to upgrade wallets from simple tools to intelligent "on-chain housekeepers" that automatically manage users' digital assets.
If WCT can successfully achieve these goals, it is expected to occupy a central position in the Web3 ecosystem and may even replicate Chainlink's success in the oracle space. However, whether this grand blueprint can be realized, and whether WalletConnect can dominate the entry point of Web3 in the next five years, remains a question worth paying attention to. Regardless, this series of plans from WCT undoubtedly showcases its long-term vision and ambition in the Web3 field.
