The blockchain gaming public chain Oasys releases its technical roadmap, focusing on three core development directions.

As a Japanese gaming public chain dedicated to bringing traditional gamers and companies into the Web3 era, Oasys has been building underlying infrastructure for the blockchain gaming track. Recently, on the occasion of Oasys's second anniversary, the public chain released its latest technical roadmap, addressing current technical challenges and user pain points, proposing corresponding solutions, and conducting short-term and mid-term technical planning.

Oasys's technology roadmap focuses on three core development directions: application data availability, layer two interoperability, and ecosystem scalability. These three directions aim to address the main technical challenges faced in the development of blockchain games.

Technical Challenges in the Development of Blockchain Games and Oasys's Response Strategies

Despite the continuous improvement of the underlying blockchain technology in the past two years, there are still some technical shortcomings in practical applications. Oasys has proposed corresponding solutions to these challenges.

Continuity of game assets

In traditional Web2 games, the game assets that players acquire, such as items, characters, and equipment, will disappear once the game shuts down. Blockchain games aim to solve this problem, but with the popularity of modular technology architecture, new challenges have arisen.

Oasys adopts an innovative approach by mirroring game assets from a second layer network to a first layer network, providing permanent and continuous protection for user assets. Even if the second layer data is discarded, user assets remain secure.

Interoperability of Layer 2 Networks

Oasys's second layer network is called Verse Layer, and each Verse is an independent "small universe" that allows for full customization of games. However, interoperability between different second layer networks has always been a challenge.

To address this issue, Oasys plans to introduce a cross-chain bridge, utilizing a universal data format and standardizing APIs to achieve seamless interoperability between different layer-two networks. This will enable users to easily and securely move data and assets between different games on Oasys.

Ecosystem Scalability

Building and maintaining a unique ecosystem is a tremendous challenge for every public chain. Oasys closely collaborates with ecosystem partners and existing layer-2 network operators to provide them with the necessary tools and resources to support ecosystem development and reduce technical barriers.

The Hub Layer of Oasys's first layer network serves as a hub, providing game developers with all the tools, SDKs, digital assets, interoperability, and ecosystem needed to create blockchain games. In addition, Oasys has launched the Verse Development Kit (VDK), enabling businesses to quickly access high-quality second-layer networks, accelerate project launches, and focus on content development.

Technical Roadmap: Short-term and Mid-term Planning

Oasys's technical roadmap is divided into two phases: short-term (within 1 year) and mid-term (2-3 years), aiming to keep pace with the rapid development of the Web3 market.

Short-term planning (within 1 year)

  1. Standardization of Game Asset Specifications: Collaborate with ecosystem partners to standardize game asset specifications, ensuring consistency across different games and platforms.

  2. Create use cases: Develop use cases for applying standardized game asset specifications in real-time games, providing references for developers and companies interested in building on Oasys.

  3. Provide Oasys Verse Development Kit (VDK): By offering verified ecosystem components, help enterprises quickly access high-quality Layer 2 networks, reducing the time and resource investment in ecosystem construction.

medium-term plan (2-3 years)

  1. Solve protocol layer issues: Implement solutions to mirror "game assets" from the second layer network to the first layer network.

  2. Achieving interoperability: Develop standardized protocols to ensure interoperability between different layer two networks, allowing users to freely navigate between multiple games within the Oasys ecosystem.

  3. Provide developer tools: Develop developer tools that align with the vision of Oasys and meet the needs of the second layer network to promote the scalability of the ecosystem.

Actual Progress and Cooperation

Oasys has made significant progress in the development of practical use cases and the expansion of its ecosystem. Recently, Oasys launched the L2 chain XPLA Verse, with several popular games from South Korea's largest mobile game group Com2uS being synchronized on-chain. Additionally, the blockchain game "Captain Tsubasa -RIVALS-" based on the Japanese football manga series "Captain Tsubasa" has also been officially launched on Oasys.

In terms of expanding its ecosystem, Oasys has partnered with Japan's SBI Group to enhance its influence in Japan's crypto gaming and NFT market. Earlier this year, Oasys also collaborated with Kakao's Web3 gaming division Metabora SG, a South Korean internet giant, to support the game publisher's entry into the Japanese market.

These initiatives not only demonstrate Oasys's technological innovation and strategic vision in the blockchain gaming sector, but also highlight its determination to collaborate with industry giants to jointly promote the development of blockchain games. As the technical roadmap is gradually implemented, Oasys is progressively realizing its vision of establishing global standards for blockchain gaming, creating real value for players and developers, while bringing new experiences and opportunities to the gaming industry.

The technological logic is foreseeable, but statistics indicate that the blockchain gaming sector still needs more empirical data meow~
