AI agents lead a new era of Web3 interaction, bringing intelligent experiences to intent-based trading.
Behind the Boom of TG Bot: Intent Trading Opens a New Era of Intelligent Web3 Interaction
Abstract
(1) Understanding Intent: Top-Down Anoma and Bottom-Up TG Bot
( Deep Intent: AI as a New Type of UI - Complex Commands vs Simple Intent
)3( Navigation Intent: Evolution of Intent Concepts, Interaction Paradigms, Current Status and Trends
) Guiding Intent: Challenges and Prospects of Intelligent Web3 Interactions
In June of this year, Paradigm published an article titled "Intent-Based Architectures and Their Risks" on its official website, bringing the concept of Intent( into the public eye for the first time. Subsequently, protocols and infrastructure related to intent rapidly developed and became a hot topic in the crypto world at the ETHCC conference in July.
Intent is not a new concept. As Mindao, the founder of DForce, stated, the crypto space has been extremely abstracting and automating various operations, from aggregators, centralized exchanges, contract wallets to cross-chain DeFi, all of which are doing this work, along with Chainlink and the recent automated middleware and Telegram bots.
However, the intention has indeed brought about new changes. In the past, the core was product interaction, while in the era of artificial intelligence, the core is human-computer interaction. AI/LLM) large language models ( contain enormous potential for enhancing encrypted interaction experiences.

01, Top-Down Anoma and Bottom-Up Unibot
In the past six months, agreements, projects, and infrastructures related to intentions have gradually attracted attention. Here, we do not intend to explain the concepts in detail, but rather to provide a glimpse of the overall situation through two typical examples.
Among the intent-related projects, the most remarkable is the Anoma Foundation, which completed its third round of financing of $25 million at the end of May 2023. In the context of severe homogenization in Layer 1, the Anoma Foundation has raised a total of $57.8 million through three rounds, thanks to its intent-centered Anoma) Dapp full-stack architecture( and Namada) privacy Layer1(, ranking seventh in the amount of financing for non-issued Layer 1/Layer 2.
In reviewing Anoma's public speech at EthCC, founder Adrian Brink pointed out Anoma's uniqueness: all interactions begin with intent, and the user's expressed intent is processed through Anoma's black box architecture ), also known as "magic box" (, to realize the core transaction process based on intent interactions:
Behind this brand new form of interaction, the Anoma team has insightfully identified the pain points of the underlying blockchain protocols. They reviewed the evolution from Bitcoin's scriptable settlement to Ethereum's programmable settlement, pointing out that the limitations of the current application protocol architecture necessitate at least one Web2 component, which cannot achieve counterparty discovery and resolution. Anoma believes that an intention-centric architecture is the third generation Dapp architecture in the evolution of blockchain protocols, allowing users to define the desired outcome state and achieve efficient and customizable privacy transactions at the intention level.

Anoma, which has high financing and a new technology architecture, is currently being developed by a team of 37 interdisciplinary members from Heliax. Although Heliax has made slow progress over the past two years, a complete innovative ecosystem has been formed.
Despite many institutions such as CMCC Global, Electric Capital, and Delphi Digital highly promoting Anoma and believing that intention-centric architecture has limitless future potential, this top-down approach has only laid a good technical foundation so far, and we have yet to see exciting concrete applications. On the other hand, TG Bot has opened up imaginative possibilities for the implementation of Intent segmentation scenarios through on-chain automated trading tools.
Unibot is a trading bot based on Telegram )TG Bot(, allowing users to perform automated DEX trading through Telegram, offering features such as sniper buying, copy trading, DEX limit orders, privacy, and anti-MEV. Unibot replaces the cumbersome interactions of Uniswap based on Intent, providing a convenient DeFi interaction experience. Unibot has also spawned a batch of TG Bot clones, and the total market capitalization of the TG Bot track is now approaching 200 million dollars.
Top-down Anoma is innovation, while bottom-up TG Bot is transformation. Anoma starts from an intent-based underlying architecture, but the team's progress is slow; although TG Bot brings a new on-chain interaction interface to users, its intelligence is limited and there are many security risks.
These two different approaches leading to the same goal share a common objective – to simplify user interaction experience and introduce a new programmable and customizable user interaction interface – User Intent Layer ). This allows users to bypass complex on-chain interactions and define transaction status based on intent.
02, AI is the New UI: Command Interaction VS Intent Interaction
After understanding the above two use cases, we need to explore the fundamental changes that AI brings to the cryptocurrency world behind the intent - the transformation of user interfaces.
The AI paradigm is introducing a third user interface paradigm in the history of computing, shifting towards a new interaction mechanism: users tell computers what they want, rather than how to do it.
Every revolution in interactive modes throughout history has spawned entirely new business models. Generative AI based on LLM has brought about disruptive changes in human-computer interaction, directly transforming the various software UI interactions into interactions with the Chatgpt chat window, which is an unprecedented experience. The combination of LLM and cryptographic technology introduces a new proposition of intent-based interaction to the crypto world, with LLM having the potential to make blockchain interactions smarter by discovering and describing user intentions.
03. The Evolution of the Concept of Intent, Interaction Paradigms, Current Status and Trends
After gaining a deep understanding of the AI intelligence trend behind intentions, we further explore the evolution of the concept of intention. Intention is not a new concept; it has existed since the Web 2.0 era. With the rise of search engines like Google, users can input their intentions, and search engines provide relevant results to meet those intentions.
With the rise of e-commerce platforms like Amazon and eBay, there has been a significant shift in intent-based architecture. Users can now express their intent to purchase products, while the platform is responsible for logistics. In early 2017, Gartner published a report titled "Innovation Insight: Intent-Based Networking Systems," officially introducing the concept of "intent-based networking" ( Intent-based Networking ). The key lies in presenting users with an interface where they only need to express their needs, and the platform handles the business details.
Intent-based networking is the trend of automation and intelligence in networking during the Web2 era. Andrew Lerner, Vice President of Research at Gartner, pointed out in 2017 that intent-based networking will be the next milestone in the field of networking.
In the evolution from Web2 to Web3, the concept of intent in Web3 is not yet very clear, but there are some common understandings:
In Web3 intent-based transaction instances, users create intents off-chain, outsource them to a resolver, encapsulating the complexity of blockchain interactions while retaining full on-chain control over the process for the user, thereby lowering the threshold for on-chain interactions.
The intention has also introduced the concept of LLM architecture - a user intent-centered architecture. Currently, related encryption protocols and infrastructures are embedded in the interaction layer between users and the crypto systems, leveraging LLM to provide a higher quality on-chain interaction experience.
The combination of LLM and encryption technology brings a new paradigm of human-computer interaction, which can directly convert user intentions into smart contract calls. Users only need to express their intentions like using Siri, and the robot/AI agent/third-party parser can help complete complex on-chain operations. In the future, intent-based intelligent Web3 interactions are expected to significantly reduce the complexity of user on-chain interactions.
Currently, an increasing number of Web3 projects are exploring the magic of intention. Whether it is intention-based Dapps or intention-based underlying architectures, they are unleashing the potential of intention from different perspectives. We attempt to organize this rapidly evolving field and categorize it into four major categories from an interaction perspective, while tracking the latest status and trends:
Infrastructure ( intent-centric intent architecture layer ):
Supporting facilities ( related to intentions and supporting infrastructure related to account abstract wallets ):
