BREAKING: GameStop Announces Another Bitcoin Purchase!

Game sales company GameStop ($GME) announced its financial results for the first quarter of 2025. The company's net sales fell by 17% compared to the same period last year, decreasing to 732.4 million dollars, while a significant improvement was seen in operational losses.

GameStop's sat, general and administrative expenses (SG&A) for this quarter amounted to 228.1 million dollars. This figure is significantly below the 295.1 million dollars in expenses from the same period last year.

The operational loss fell to 10.8 million dollars; this indicates a significant recovery compared to last year's operational loss of 50.6 million dollars. The operational loss for this quarter also includes a 35.5 million dollar impairment expense recorded as part of the company's international restructuring process.

Excluding these types of one-time items, adjusted operating income was recorded at 27.5 million dollars. In the same period last year, this item had an adjusted operating loss of 55 million dollars.

There was also a significant transformation on the net income side. The company achieved a net profit of 44.8 million dollars this quarter, while it had reported a net loss of 32.3 million dollars in the first quarter of the previous year. After adjustments, the net income reached 83.1 million dollars, presenting a complete reversal compared to the previous year's adjusted net loss of 36.7 million dollars.

GameStop's balance sheet strength has also increased to a remarkable level. The company's total cash, cash equivalents, and securities reached 6.4 billion dollars at the end of the quarter. This figure is quite high compared to the 1 billion dollar level in the same period last year.

The company completed the sale of its Canadian operations on May 4, 2025. In addition, it purchased 4,710 Bitcoin between May 3 and June 10, 2025.
