Jins data news on March 18th, Australian Treasurer Chalmers will announce the federal budget on March 25th. Given that the country's general election will be held before mid-May, this is a key moment in its politics. Chalmers must achieve a balanced budget in a way that attracts votes without abandoning any fiscal conservatism, while addressing the rising defense needs, fluctuation in international markets, and new threats of global trade wars. Adam Boyton, chief economist for Australia at ANZ Bank, expects a potential budget deficit of 40 billion Australian dollars for the 2025-26 fiscal year. New spending for the 2024-25 fiscal year is estimated at about 2.5 billion Australian dollars, and for the 2025-26 fiscal year about 10 billion Australian dollars. He added that this amount will not have a substantial impact on ANZ Bank's forecasts for GDP growth, inflation, or changes in Reserve Bank of Australia policy.
