Former FTX executive Ryan Salame's confession failed to stop the investigation into his partners.
Golden Finance reported that US prosecutors stated that they did not violate the plea protocol reached with former FTX executive Ryan Salame and did not promise to stop the investigation into his partner Michelle Bond. Salame previously accused the government of threatening his partner Bond during plea negotiations, but the prosecutors emphasized that they repeatedly informed Salame's lawyer that the plea would not affect the ongoing investigation into Bond. Salame pleaded guilty in September, admitting to participating in an illegal political donation scheme and operating an unregistered money transfer business, and was sentenced to seven and a half years in prison. Bond was charged last month with using illegal funds to support his campaign for New York State Assembly. Prosecutors also revealed that Salame was involved in misconduct at FTX, including opening accounts using others' identity information and supervising bribery payments to immigration officials.
