Spokesperson of the Chinese embassy in Japan answers questions on Japan's launch of the eighth batch of Fukushima nuclear contaminated water discharge into the sea.
On August 7th, Jinshi Data reported that the spokesperson of the Chinese embassy in Japan stated that the issue of discharging contaminated water from Fukushima into the sea is not a private matter of Japan, but a matter concerning the health of all mankind, the global marine environment, and international public interests. Without addressing the concerns of the international community regarding the safety of discharging contaminated water into the sea, the long-term reliability of purification devices, and the effectiveness of monitoring arrangements, Japan continuously and irresponsibly releases nuclear-contaminated water into the ocean, shifting potential pollution risks to the world. China strongly opposes this. We have expressed our concerns to Japan on multiple occasions and have had in-depth communication with them. We urge Japan to fully cooperate in establishing substantive, inclusive, and effective long-term international monitoring arrangements with neighboring countries and other stakeholders.
