Gate.io has stopped providing services to Japanese users in response to the Compliance requirements of the Financial Services Agency

According to an official announcement, Gate.io announced its decision to stop services in Japan due to the "Compliance Requirements" put forward by Japan financial regulators. As of July 22, 2024, the platform will stop opening new accounts for Japan residents. In addition, in order to smoothly terminate the users living in Japan and using the services within Japan, the platform will immediately implement the following measures 1 to 3:

1. Gate.io has launched a Compliance program in Japan that will support customers who wish to migrate their trading to an encryption asset trading provider that complies with Japanese regulations;
2. The platform will take necessary measures to comply with Japanese laws, such as deleting Japanese descriptions, but during the support period mentioned in 1 above, Japanese information will be provided within the necessary scope;
3. The platform will implement detailed information on the suspension of services and the transition trading plan in accordance with the Compliance requirements of the Financial Department and other authorities, and will announce it in a timely manner. At that time, it will also explain the services that can be provided and the types of encrypted assets according to the law.
