The Bitcoin L2 blockchain platform Botanix, based on the Bitcoin chain and compatible with Ethereum EVM, officially launches its mainnet. Botanix announced on its official website and X that it will adopt Chainlink as its core infrastructure, specifically providing cross-chain solutions compatible with Bitcoin and Ethereum EVM for development teams.

Botanix is touted as "the first decentralized Bitcoin and EVM compatible chain," with its mainnet operated by an alliance of 16 independent node operators, including Galaxy, Fireblocks, and Alchemy. The founding members of the alliance consist of seasoned Bitcoin miners, administrators, validators, and strategic partners.

Botanix offers a five-second block time, an average transaction fee of 0.02 USD, and supports DeFi lending and staking transactions priced in BTC.

According to the official website, Botanix differs from other sidechains and centralized bridges by adopting an original security model called Spiderchain. This model combines BTC staking with a multi-signature management mechanism, utilizing the randomness of Bitcoin blocks to select nodes for transaction management. The core concept is to integrate the security of Bitcoin with the programmability of Ethereum. Below are the key points.

Botanix integrates the advantages of Chainlink

On the first day of Botanix's Mainnet launch, the platform announced the integration of Chainlink's core technologies, including the cross-chain interoperability protocol (Chainlink CCIP), dynamic data (Data Feeds), and data streams (Data Streams), etc.; these technologies make up the Botanix cross-chain data standard, providing developers with support for Bitcoin native financial applications (BTCFi).

Through the CCIP protocol, developers can deploy secure cross-chain application scenarios, increasing the practicality and flexibility of Bitcoin L2 while enhancing data accuracy. The transmission of low-latency on-chain data can support complex financial applications such as high-frequency trading, lending, and automated strategies. Botanix offers response speeds similar to centralized exchanges (CEX) while maintaining decentralized verifiability.

CCIP: Enhancing cross-chain security

The consensus layer of CCIP is supported by Chainlink's decentralized oracle ( Decentralized Oracle Network, abbreviated as DON). This infrastructure has ensured a total locked value of over 75 billion USD in DeFi during its peak, and since 2022, it has achieved over 22 trillion USD in on-chain transaction volume.

The technical director of Botanix stated that integrating CCIP has strengthened Botanix's reliability in cross-chain and data transmission, allowing BTCFi to transition from concept to practical application.

Botanix's Coin Neutral Transfer Mechanism (CCT)

Using the Cross-Chain Transfer mechanism (CCT), development teams can use a pre-audited token pool contract to convert ERC-20 compatible tokens into cross-chain universal tokens without modifying the original token contract.

Advantages include:

Programmable Operations: Allow simultaneous transmission of asset and data instructions, enabling cross-chain instructions to automatically trigger specific logic on the receiving chain.

Scalability and future-oriented design: supports new blockchains, allowing for more tokens and optimized security. This architecture enables developers to build cross-chain financial applications on Botanix that combine performance and flexibility.

Willem Schroé, CEO of Botanix Labs, stated that the framework allows users to quickly revert Bitcoin at any time, avoiding the redemption delay risks commonly seen in past bridging models.

Botanix's multi-signature security signatures prevent network hacker attacks.

Botanix promotes multi-node rotation, where each wallet bridge address is managed by a vast and continuously rotating random coordinator. Every transaction requires the signatures of twelve out of sixteen validators. This preset mechanism forces each transaction to pass through a threshold of more than two-thirds of the majority signatures to be executed. Network hackers need to overcome more restrictions to breach the wallet, providing users with additional protection.
