Hope for a ceasefire in the Middle East fades, oil prices fall, and the US stock market closes higher.

Gate News bot message, the US stock market closed higher on Monday as oil prices fell after the attacks between Israel and Iran did not affect oil production and exports, easing investors' concerns that rising energy prices could trigger inflation.

Crude oil prices fell more than 1% as hopes grew that a ceasefire agreement would soon be reached between Israel and Iran after several days of missile strikes. Iran called on U.S. President Donald Trump to enforce a ceasefire to end the four-day air war, while the Israeli Prime Minister stated that his country was on the "path to victory."
