Sui Kiosk: A self-service platform for creators' encryption assets

Sui Kiosk, as a native feature on the Sui blockchain, provides creators with tools to implement business models in a decentralized environment. It allows creators to set the conditions for completing transactions in any trading scenario, offering flexible options for digital asset trading.

Sui Kiosk: A platform for creators to build encryption asset "self-service machine"

Definition and Functions of Sui Kiosk

Sui Kiosk can be seen as a digital version of a self-service vending machine, used to showcase and sell digital assets and NFT collectibles. By creating and placing assets in the Kiosk, creators can define the policies and rules that control the future trading of the assets. This mechanism, controlled by creators rather than the market, avoids issues that have arisen on other blockchains, such as the cancellation of enforced royalties.

The basic components of the Sui Kiosk include:

  1. Kiosk and KioskOwnerCap: Allow owners to store and list assets for sale.
  2. TransferPolicy and TransferPolicyCap: define the conditions for asset trading.
  3. Rules: Specific trading rules within TransferPolicy

The Sui Kiosk also supports extended features to enable more complex scenarios such as auctions and raffles.

Kiosk Application in SuiFrens

Mysten Labs distributed 380,000 Bull Shark NFTs through Kiosk in the SuiFrens project. These NFTs were placed in Kiosk, implementing the following key rules:

  1. Copyright rules: stipulate payment of royalties to creators upon resale.
  2. Locking Rules: Prevent assets from being traded outside the Kiosk to circumvent royalty rules.

This combination demonstrates a simple example of enforced royalty execution. Many creators on Sui are also using other tools, such as Origin Byte Kiosk.

User Guide for Kiosk

Creators can specify different transfer policies and conditions for each type of asset. Taking SuiFrens Bull Shark as an example, its TransferPolicy defines two rules:

  1. Royalty Rules: The amount of royalties to be paid when selling in the secondary market.
  2. Locking rules: Ensure that assets can only circulate through NFT markets that support Kiosk.

Other rules currently under development include:

  • Soulbound Kiosk: Makes assets exclusively owned by one owner
  • Minimum Price Rule: Allows creators to set a minimum selling price

The Future Development of Kiosk

The Sui Kiosk will support more complex business models in the future, such as auctions, raffles, and licensing. These features will provide creators with greater flexibility and control while ensuring fairness in transactions, creator control, and transparency in a decentralized environment.

The rules are beautifully written, but the implementation still depends on execution.
