On July 25, Jin10 reported that Cornell University is intensifying negotiations with the Trump administration to restore hundreds of millions of dollars in research funding, according to informed sources. The sources stated that after Columbia University reached a comprehensive agreement with the White House on Wednesday, Cornell is expected to become the next Ivy League school to reconcile with the government. A White House official indicated that, in addition to Cornell University, Brown University and Northwestern University are also close to reaching agreements. Although the terms of the negotiations for Cornell University remain unclear, they are expected to generally follow the Columbia model, which includes cash penalties and a series of structural reform measures. An individual familiar with the negotiations stated that the government expects the settlement amount for Cornell University to be "considerably substantial," but lower than Columbia's $200 million.
