Elon Musk Criticizes 'One Big Beautiful Bill' as a Path to Bankruptcy in the United States

Elon Musk has reignited the national debate over government spending with a fierce outburst against Congress. In response to the newly passed "One Big Beautiful Bill", Musk called it "a disgusting abomination" and warned that it is pushing the United States to the brink of bankruptcy. In a post on X, he criticized the bill, stating, "I’m sorry, but I can’t take it anymore." Musk's controversial statements are not new, and this declaration is making strong waves, creating a storm within the White House.

Trillions in new debt The bill sponsored by President Donald Trump is expected to increase the national debt of the United States by an additional $5.1 trillion over the next decade, according to the Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget. Musk also agreed with those concerns, warning that it would "significantly increase the already massive budget deficit to $2.5 trillion" and burden the American people with a "terribly unsustainable debt." Ending the role of DOGE is not a criticism Musk's comments came just days after he resigned from his position as head of the Government Efficiency Department (DOGE). Although he no longer holds an official position, he emphasized that DOGE's mission will continue within government structures. His departure does not silence him; he has strongly opposed the bill despite the parliament's budget cuts for DOGE. However, Musk is not the only one disappointed. Senator Rand Paul agrees with Musk's concerns, calling the bill "a big mistake." He criticized the reckless addition of trillions to the federal debt and emphasized the need for financial discipline. Meanwhile, the White House defends the bill, calling it crucial to maintaining tax cuts. Despite the backlash, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt continues to support the bill, stating that it maintains tax cuts and supports national interests. As the United States prepares for a deeper financial divide, Musk's warnings are causing a new wave of outrage and perhaps a new round of political debate. Not everything is synchronized... Meanwhile, House Speaker Mike Johnson strongly opposed Elon Musk's criticism of the new spending bill, arguing on X that any proposed cuts by the DOGE initiative that no longer exist would be handled formally through Congress's cancellation and allocation processes. In response to Musk's warning about rising federal debt, Johnson asserted that "with all due respect, Elon is simply wrong about the Great Big Bill," reflecting a deep disagreement about the financial impact of the bill. In response, Senator Mike Lee warned that current government spending has reached a crisis point, especially since 2020, and emphasized that it cannot be overlooked. While acknowledging that "the big, beautiful bill" is a reconciliation package, he argued that it must go further to address the issue meaningfully, especially if it hopes to pass the Senate.
